Quilt Block Update

Image
I have been busy over the last few days. I have gotten some blocks done and wanted to show you. The color is off on all of these and I'm not sure why. First up is the February Bee block for Fresh Modern Bee. Amy, hope you enjoy. The above two blocks are week 4 of the Patchwork Squared Modern Solids Quilt Along . I hope to get the past two weeks done in the next couple of days. I'm using the Mango Azure color group. Get your kit at the Fat Quarter Shop before they are gone. Love the orange and aqua. What looks like blue is really a gray. These blocks were quick and easy and Ryan has done an awesome job writing the tutorials for these blocks. He has a way of making them super easy and anyone, even a beginner quilter could make them. Please join in on the fun if you haven't already. I'll have more for you later . Until next time ,

Fat Quarterly Issue 5!

Image
Do you subscribe to Fat Quarterly ? No? Well you should because Patchwork Squared has a new pattern in issue 5! It's our Bookworm quilt. There is also a limited number of kits available for the Bookworm pattern over at Above All Fabric . Gets yours before they are all gone. Melanie is even willing to switch to another line if you want and adjust the solids and sashing/border fabrics to fit. Wow! What great service. Thanks Melanie for kitting this. Don't forget about the Patchwork Squared Modern Solids Quilt Along going on. We're working on week 5 blocks. Follow along with our Flickr group here. Don't forget that the Fat Quarter Shop still has a very limited number of kits available if you want to make your own using the colors chosen by us. Until next time,

Life is starting to get back to normal for me. The Dr. took me off most of my meds and I must say I'm feeling better. I want to get around and do more things, but then my lungs remind me that I can't do everything. It's still going to be a few more weeks for me. When I do over do it the wind is just taken out of me and I have to rest for a bit. It could take up to three months to get rid of the stuff that is in my lungs. All this has not stopped me from sewing. I'm working on my tumbler quilt and it's just about finished. I'm sewing the rows together. I just have to figure out what I want to do for the borders. I'm thinking something fun to match the rest of the quilt. Have you seen some of the new fabric that is coming out? I just can't wait to get my hands on some of it. Which one is your favorite? Click on any of the above pictures and it will take you to Fat Quarters Shop web site and you can sign up to receive notification when these col...

Tumbler

Image
It's been raining most of the day here in Kansas City and there is no sign of Mr.  Sunshine at all.  I sure did miss him.  Each day I get a little closer to normal.  I just need to keep working at it and I will be back to myself in no time.  I want to sew so badly, but don't really have anything cut out to work on.  I need another mindless project that does not take a lot of thought or energy.  I'm thinking of taking a charm pack and making a tumbler quilt.  I saw this baby quilt from Accuquilt today that I might try. You can download your own copy here .   I hope I still have my tumbler template :-) because i don't own this die.  Quilts like these are great to have around when you need a quick gift for someone or a quilt to raffle off.  It'll be super cute with the right charm pack or a great way to use up some of your scraps.   Until next time,

What a great April day in Kansas City. The sun is shining and the temp is in the upper 80's. I think spring is really here. Many of you know I have been in the hospital, but I wanted to let you know how severe it really was. I was diagnosed with a severe case of pneumonia. It keep me in the hospital for 9 days, but there was talk that they wanted to keep me even longer. Good thing they didn't. I was missing home. The pneumonia has left my lungs damaged and it is going to take about 6 - 8 weeks to get them back to normal. Maybe not the way they were, but close. I might be forced to take medicatons to treat this for the rest of my life. I am at risk of getting this again. For me to be able to come home from the Hospital I had to come home with oxygen. I only need the oxygen when I do any activity such as, showering, walking, making a meal. I'm still weak on my feet and have to sit down and rest, they say this will improve with time. My lungs are getting better. H...

Well Wishes

I am officially caught up on most movies and even a few that I've not even heard of. I'm taking it slow for the next few weeks, when you are close to death you realize that life is just too short. I'm going to get my heath back where it needs to be and then take care of myself. This has been an eye opener for me and all people involved directly in my life. I want to thank all my twitter, facebook, blog friends for the continued support and well wishes and know that I get all your messages, and Thank You. Until next time,
